Spartan Football “Brings the Juice” to Tonight’s Home Opener

High school sports are back up and running normally for the first time since the winter of 2020, and they are giving a promising new life to the East Longmeadow Football team.

Head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Morrisino is going into his second season as head coach after revamping the offensive scheme. He hopes to bring East Longmeadow back to the playoffs, and more importantly, beat Longmeadow on Thanksgiving.

“My goal for this season is to have our players understand the importance of winning one rep at a time… the more reps we win, the chances of us winning increase… If we learn to control what we can control and not the unknown, we will win some football games.”

Coach Morrisino has worked tirelessly to change the team culture, using the slogan “#BringTheJuice” to motivate the team.

“Bringing the juice is a mentality, a mindset… waking up every day putting two feet on the ground, ready to take on whatever comes at you…”

He encourages them to extend the slogan to everyday life.

“This motto is an expectation for the team, and something I feel is a guide to success. I want them to desire to be great and push themselves in everything they do as it will make them into better people long and short term.”

East Longmeadow takes on Taconic High School in the season opener at home tonight at 7pm.

“We are looking to score more points on offense and tackle better on defense. The staff feels if we can do these two things at a high level, good things will come to this football team.”

After a long time of no fans in the stadium, it is open for full capacity. The snack shack is up and running. The team is holding a “Red-Out” night and selling T-shirts for $15.
