No Ugly Sweater Contest, But Senior Fundraising Goes On

Fundraising is a challenge in the best of times. During the pandemic, it takes even more work.

Erin Hill, Maya Maxwell, Veronica Brunette, Santa Claus, Arielle Alouidor, and Emily Conrad stop serving hot chocolate for a picture.

The ungly sweater contest was a bust, but the senior class managed to make $625 for the senior class.

Hot chocolate was served with marshmallows, whipped cream, and candy cane. The fundraiser served over 200 people.

Many students, teachers, and other staff members attended the event. During the event music, rare magic cups, and ugly sweaters created a great time for the community.

“Our plan for the ugly sweater contest was to take pictures and make a google form for public voting,” Class officer Erin Hill said.

Unfortunately, the pandemic caused this to fail. No one wanted to create an uncomfortable environment for visitors so they stayed in their vehicles, and the student government went against making a poll for the contest. Although the contest failed the rare magic cups didn’t.

“We had 10 magic cups made prior to the event and those were randomly placed among the regular cups,” Class officer Erin Hill said.

The lucky customers who got magic cups got a holiday gift bag along with their order. These holiday bags were filled to the brim with chocolates. Many people worked hard in order for this event to be successful with creative ideas such as the magic cups.

“Most of our class officers came to help along with a few volunteers- Class officers: Veronica Brunette (Treasurer), Arielle Aloudoir (Secretary), Maya Maxwell (Member-At-Large), and myself. Volunteers: Ashton Riley (10) and Emily Conrad (12),” Class officer Erin Hill said.

Many others came to support the event and make a wonderful experience. Such as Nurse Mazza, the school’s personal trainer Ms. Diane, Mr. Paige, Mr. Wright who also brought Santa, Ms. Reed, and Mr. Flory.

The class officers are also working on other fundraisers. Including gourmet popcorn, Spartan T-shirts, ect.

This fundraiser was a great success. They managed to gather $2,016 and surpassed their goal of $2,000.

“We are planning to sell new Spartan T-shirts featuring a design made by Julianna Zemba inspired by “Juice Wrld,” a popular rap artist, as well as Senior Lawn Signs, and an Easter event,” Class Officer Erin Hill said.

The ELHS senior class is working very hard to ensure our community enjoys the holidays despite the circumstances.
