Tutoring Benefits NHS Members and Those They Help

Lila Bond ’26

The National Honor Society is now tutoring students on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at both ELHS and BPMS.

Students who need help for any subject can sign up for tutoring through their guidance counselor.

“We provide help for any subject,” Audrey O’Neill, a member of the NHS, said. But the most common ones are math, English, foreign languages, and history.”

Most often people come to be tutored for math because it is one of the subjects that students struggle with the most.

O’Neill also mentioned how tutoring for the NHS has also helped with skills that she will need inside and outside of the classroom.

“It keeps your skills fresh. But it also helps you with communicating with others, working with others, sort of personal one-to-one interactions, and just learning how to teach and explain concepts.”

All NHS member must do a minimum of 4 tutoring hours over the course of the year.
